The construction of the wall along the Mexico-United States border is not finished yet.
In the meantime, however, construction is under way.
A preliminary plan for building the border fence was released on Thursday, according to Reuters.
The document, which is being presented to Congress, is expected to be submitted by the end of next week.
The new plan is expected “to be completed in a short time” and will be the “first step towards the completion of the project,” the document states.
This plan includes “a temporary fence along the existing US-Mexico border, with a planned barrier that is approximately three feet (1.7 meters) tall, in two sections.”
The “temporary barrier” would cover the border, “with a fence at least two feet (60 centimeters) high and four feet (12 meters) long,” according to the plan.
The border wall will be “fence-free,” with no fences on the US side, and a wall “about three feet high, two feet wide and four inches deep,” according the document.
The wall will also have “a continuous barbed wire fence at the outer perimeter of the barrier,” it says.
The fence will be 2.5 feet (0.6 meters) high, with “a barbed-wire fence of sufficient height and width to protect against unauthorized intrusion.”
