AUSTIN, Texas — Acme Supply Company, the company that built a $2.6 billion construction boom for the city of Austin, announced Thursday it has signed a contract to build two additional construction zones on the city’s west side.
The company, which employs more than 20,000 people in Austin, said the new facilities will add about 15,000 square feet of space and add additional jobs to the existing construction sites.
A similar contract was signed in March.
The construction projects, which will include a new $2 million construction zone at the intersection of Broadway and South Lamar, are expected to start construction this fall.
Construction crews have begun work on the new facility at the corner of South Lamar and Broadway.
Workers will start installing the structures on March 1 and finish them in early 2019, the firm said.
It is the second time in a year that Acme has expanded its footprint.
In December, the construction firm expanded its production facilities to the northwest corner of the city, where Acme also operates its construction and demolition equipment.
