In a country where construction companies are struggling to attract new employees, the government has asked construction companies to consider hiring more workers.
According to a notice published in the Goa Gazette on Friday, the state government has decided to provide compensation to the construction companies for the extra staff it would like to hire.
The notice stated that the state has already provided compensation of Rs 2,000 per month to a construction company that is in need of additional workers and that the compensation would be increased to Rs 5,000 for each additional worker that is hired.
The government has also directed the state governments and the Construction Boards of Goa to set up an agency to provide job training to the workers and give them job training certificates.
The construction companies that have hired extra workers will receive the compensation amount and will have to pay their share to the state and the construction boards.
Construction Boards would also be responsible for providing training for the workers to ensure that they are in a position to start their careers in the construction sector.
The government has recently been cracking down on labour-intensive projects and other non-essential construction projects in the state.
The state government recently decided to levy a 30% tax on every piece of construction waste.
